Our Role
The Office of Women’s Policy works to improve the quality of life for all Victorian women and to create a community where women contribute, have their voices heard, are represented equally, and are respected and valued as citizens.
Women represent 51 per cent of the Victorian community, yet there remains a significant disparity between the quality of life for women and that of men. Women continue to be under-represented in leadership positions, are more likely to work in temporary or low paid jobs, undertake the majority of unpaid work and earn less despite doing work of equal value. They are more likely to suffer ill health and experience violence. Find out more about victorian women and the community.
The Office of Women’s Policy works to reduce or eliminate this disparity by developing and informing Victorian Government policies, practices and programs that impact women and their families. It also undertakes specific projects and works to represent and promote the interests, views and achievements of Victorian women.
The Office of Women’s Policy is located in the Department of Planning and Community Development, within the People and Advocacy Division.
