How to get involved
The centenary is an opportunity to reflect on the importance of the right to vote for all people, something many of us take for granted today. It is also an opportunity to celebrate and recognise the contribution that women make to our civic and political life.
Ideas to get involved
There are many suggestions for activities and events your organisation, business or friends could do to mark this significant milestone in Victorian history.
Promotional materials
A range of promotional materials are available to help celebrate 100 years since women won the right to vote in Victoria.
2008 Monster Petition Project
We invite your organisation to get involved in our 2008 Monster Petition Project by requesting a banner for your community.
Contribute to the history of voting in Victoria
Do you know of any interesting stories about the right to vote in Victoria? Perhaps your ancestors signed the Monster Petition or one of the anti-suffrage petitions, perhaps they door knocked to collect signatures or organised meetings about women’s suffrage in their communities.
We want to know about all the unknown women (and men) who contributed to women achieving the right to vote in Victoria. Email vicwomenvote@dpcd.vic.gov.au and your story might become part of the Victorian Women Vote Program and Website.
